Pier 60 Sunsets

The Gulf coast is renowned for its magnificent sunsets and Clearwater’s Pier 60 is a prime place to take in this natural marvel. Each evening, the Pier comes alive with artisans, crafters, street performers and live music, all to celebrate that magic moment when the golden orange sun dips below the turquoise waters and out of view. On the weekends, free screenings of popular movies are shown on a huge outdoor screen overlooking the water enticing guests to lay out a beach blanket and enjoy.

Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise

The Gulf of Mexico recalls a romantic and exciting past of pirate ships and treasure hunts thought to be gone long ago. Captain Memo’s Pirate Cruise allows the modern day traveler to become a buccaneer for a day and set sail aboard the ‘Pirates’ Ransom.’ Especially child-friendly, the two hour cruises feature treasure hunts, face-painting, water games, and lots of dancing to reggae island tunes and steel drums. The complete crew of “Captains” and “Wenches” welcomes guests with a big “Ahoy, matey!” and ensures light-hearted fun for all. Adults are invited to enjoy a beverage while their children are safely entertained by the crew. Captain Memo is the original pirate cruise and has been delighting tourists in Clearwater for more than 30 years.

Clearwater Marine Aquarium

The destination’s location on the Gulf of Mexico means that Clearwater is home to an abundant assortment of aquatic life and the Clearwater Marine Aquarium offers guests a one-of-a-kind introduction to all of it. The Aquarium is nationally recognized for its groundbreaking work in marine rescue, rehabilitation and release, as well as education and animal assisted therapy research. More than an aquarium, the CMA is also a non-profit organization working to conserve aquatic environments and animals.

Their most famous resident, Winter the Dolphin, is an inspiring example of this meaningful work. CMA staff rescued Winter after she was caught in a crab trap, nursed her back to health after she lost her tail, and created a prosthetic tail to allow her to swim once again. Since then, Winter’s story of survival and perseverance has been inspiring children, especially those with disabilities, around the world. Today, Winter’s life has been documented in the major motion picture, Dolphin Tale. Entirely filmed on location in Clearwater and at the CMA, the 3D Warner Brothers’ film stars Winter alongside Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman, and Harry Connick Jr.

Winter’s Dolphin Tale Adventure

Following the success of the film Dolphin Tale, the 3-D major motion picture about Clearwater Marine Aquarium’s famous tailless dolphin resident, Winter, Clearwater Marine Aquarium expanded into the Cleveland Street District of Historic Downtown Clearwater’s Harborview Center with an authentic behind the scenes experience of the #1 box office hit. What was just a shell of a former department store, is transformed into Winter’s Dolphin Tale Adventure.

Little Toot

The Little Toot might sound small, but the 40-foot, authentic tug boat offers big fun. Excursions around the harbor and into the Gulf offer guests the opportunity for some amazing dolphin sightings that last between and hour and an hour and a half. The tug boat’s shape and power creates a large wake, one that dolphins simply love to jump and play in, bringing the dolphins so close you can almost touch them! Children of all ages are welcome aboard, and Little Toot’s crew is so confident in their ability to bring guests to the dolphins that they guarantee your next trip free if you don’t see any.

The 72-foot Sea Screamer is Clearwater’s most exciting family attraction – fun and safe for all ages!
