One thing about Clearwater, Florida, is there are a number of ways to have fun that are free. Our list below includes some great ways to experience all our great city has to offer.
1. Engage with nature on one of our nature trails
The City of Clearwater has two parks that feature nature trails where you can stroll under moss draped live oaks while seeing a variety of birds, turtles, alligators, racoons, and much more.
2. Bike through the city
With a network of more than 10 trails that take you almost anywhere in the city, spend the day on a bike exploring the city. If you are staying on the beach, one great ride is over the Sand Key Bridge to Sand Key Park or try riding to Coopers Bayou Park on the east end of the city to spot some alligators and stop downtown along the way.
3. Enjoy a sunset on the beach while shopping for a variety of handmade items
Everyday locals and visitors gather on Clearwater Beach to end the day by watching the sunset. You will see vivid oranges, pinks, and yellows light up the sky. As the sun falls below the gulf the sky will transition to deeper reds followed by blues and purples. The best way to see the sunset is from Pier 60 during their nightly Sunsets at Pier 60 festival where you can shop for handmade arts and crafts while watching the sunset.
The festival also offers Sunset Cinema, where you and your family can enjoy a free movie on the beach. It is a great family friendly way to spend the evening with your toes in the sand every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
4. Experience the Dali Pop-Up Exhibit in Downtown
Have you ever wanted to step inside of a painting and immerse yourself? That was the goal behind the Dalí Museum’s Dreams of Dalí Virtual Reality (VR) Experience at Second Century Studios in downtown Clearwater. This free experience allows the viewer to walk through a Dali painting looking for artifacts often found in Dali’s works. This exhibit runs through June 30, 2019, in downtown Clearwater.
5. See the murals
In 2018 the City of Clearwater’s Community Redevelopment Agency issued a call for artist to begin painting murals in downtown. So far, four large scale murals have been painted with more on the way. Be sure to post your photos of the murals with #muralsofclearwater.
6. Find Shells during low tide
As you walk along Clearwater Beach be sure to look down. You can find a large number of different shells along the beaches in Clearwater.
