The City of Clearwater, FLA. announces the 9th annual Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival and the artists scheduled for Feb. 20 to 21, 2015 at Coachman Park.
Headlining Saturday, Feb. 21 is Amos Lee with his folk/soul/jazz/rock-infused style. Lee has previously opened for Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Norah Jones. His list of loyal fans includes the Band Perry and Lady Antebellum, and he recently joined rock greats Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Jack Johnson on stage at a concert in Washington State. On Saturday, other performers will include blues artist Otis Taylor, known for his ability to play multiple instruments; modern blues guitarist, singer and songwriter Jarekus Singleton; and Sena Ehrhardt and The Flood Brothers.
On Sunday, Robert Randolph and the Family Band will headline, known for their American funk and soul sound. The group incorporates “sacred steel” into their musical compositions, a method created with a lap steel guitar instrument that evolved out of 1930s African-American Pentecostal churches. Rolling Stone placed Randolph on its list of 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Randolph says his music is heavily influenced by church music and legendary guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. The group was also inspired by 1970’s funk bands like Earth, Wind & Fire and Sly and the Family Stone. “My thing is really upbeat, uptempo, with great guitar riffs,” says Randolph.
Along with Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Sunday’s artists include blues/jazz/rock guitarist Robben Ford, who has collaborated with Miles Davis, George Harrison, and KISS; British blues guitarist and singer Joanne Shaw Taylor; and Floridian born singer-songwriter and lap and pedal steel guitar player A.J. Ghent.
Along with great blues music, festival-goers can feast on some of the region’s best seafood dishes. For more information or to purchase VIP tickets to the 9th Annual Clearwater Sea-Blues Festival call (727) 562-4700.
