The City of Clearwater invites visitors to honor America’s Independence Day at Clearwater Celebrates America, sponsored by Bright House Networks featuring the Clearwater Gas ‘Spark the Sky’ fireworks display. On July 4, 2013, Coachman Park will serve as the picturesque waterfront setting for the celebration, providing spectators with up-close views of the Tampa Bay area’s largest fireworks display.
The patriotic festival kicks off at 4 p.m., offering visitors the chance to experience specialty items and foods from local vendors and explore a variety of kid-friendly activities before the dazzling fireworks show begins at 9:30 p.m. This year’s fireworks will be orchestrated by Pyrotecnico; innovative fireworks show technicians for the past 120 years. Featuring special effects and creative designs, the fireworks will light the sky in exciting new ways with the inclusion of nautical shell fireworks in the synchronized show. Unlike traditional fireworks rocketing into the sky, the nautical shells are fired down into the water, rising to the surface in a glittering explosion. A crowd-pleasing display, the nautical shells will erupt from Clearwater’s tranquil waters to the audience’s surprise and delight.
Visitors will enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the celebration, including the Annual Mascot Parade of Clearwater’s most famous faces. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., spectators will watch the mascots as they parade through the park before the patriotic concert kicks off at 7:30 p.m. This year’s performers will be the Mostly Pops Orchestra and local favorite, the Wilsons. The light classical and pops concert will continue throughout the evening for all to enjoy and the kid’s area will remain open from 5 to 9 p.m. A special inclusion in the kid’s area this year is Radio Disney’s series of games based upon the Disney Channel’s new original movie, Teen Beach Movie.
